Instructional Materials Review &
Approval Process


 

HB 1605 includes updates to the Instructional Materials Review and Approval (IMRA) process to ensure all instructional materials:

  • are fully aligned to the TEKS,
  • feature a learning design that supports all learners, and
  • include robust implementation support for teachers.

Districts that select instructional materials approved by the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) through the updated IMRA process can use new HB 1605 funding to provide the materials to their teachers and students.

Introducing Bluebonnet Learning K–5 Math—the new open education resource (OER) instructional materials from the Texas Education Agency recently approved through the updated IMRA process.

New District Funding


 Texas House Bill 1605 establishes the following additional funding for schools and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to provide new high-quality instructional materials:

  • $40 per student if adopting instructional materials that have been approved through the updated IMRA process

  • Additional $20 per student for the printing of SBOE-approved OER instructional materials

MAXIMIZING AVAILABLE FUNDING

The new SBOE-approved Bluebonnet Learning K–5 Math OER instructional materials qualify for all available funding. Districts can maximize this funding by providing the enhanced solution that includes printed materials, digital tools, and in-depth professional learning.
